Daniel Schlinke arrived in SA with the Lutheran emigrants on the Catharina in 1839 and soon attracted attention at Klemzig when he challenged Missionary Clamor Schürmann in seeking the hand of Bertha Teusler!!

He established flour mills at Bethany and Tanunda and was a prominent member of the Barossa German community.

This presentation will also detail the move of two of his sons and his second wife to new lives in California.
