If you lead or assist in worship services for your faith community, a workshop in South Australia next month may provide valuable information and encouragement for your role.
A joint initiative of Australian Lutheran College (ALC) and the Lutheran pastors from the Barossa Valley, the ‘O Lord, open my lips’ event will be held on the morning of Saturday 24 August 2024 at St Petri in Nuriootpa.
ALC Principal Dr Tim Stringer and local Lutheran pastors will share stories with participants that are intended to share learning and support with anyone involved in worship gatherings, including lay readers, musicians, ushers, Children’s talk presenters, lay preachers and Bible readers.
Electives will include Lutheran worship – its biblical meaning and structure; upskilling your public reading of the Bible; the skill of ushering; preparing children’s messages; lay reading role and skills and selecting songs.
The morning event, which costs $10, is part of a week-long workshop. To find out more or RSVP, contact St Petri Lutheran Church office by phone on 08 8562 1011 or via email at admin@stpetri.org.au by 21 August 2024.
Synod lunch service volunteers needed
If you have a heart for serving people, can be in Adelaide during General Synod and/or General Pastors Conference later this year, and don’t already have a role at these events, then your help is needed, particularly at lunchtimes. Volunteers are needed to help the caterers serve lunch to attendees at both events, while assistance is also needed with a range of other tasks before, during, and after the churchwide gatherings.
